What Can it Be Used For?

Exfoliated vermiculite is used in the friction brake linings market, high temperature insulation, loft insulation, various construction products, animal feeds, horticulture and many other industrial applications.

What Grades Are Available?

Exfoliated Vermiculite is available in a selection of grades with nominal sizes from 15 mm to 0.1 mm.

Standard Grades

Micafil

Nominal size: 2 - 15mm
Typical bulk density: 85kg/m3
Applications: Insulation Concrete, Refractories, Packaging

Medium Grade

Nominal size: 1 - 8mm
Typical bulk density: 100kg/m3
Applications:Insulation, Horticulture, Refractories

Fine Grade

Nominal size: 0.5 - 3.0mm
Typical bulk density: 105kg/m3
Applications:Horticulture, Friction

Crude

Crude vermiculite ore is mined in many countries across the globe including South Africa, China and Brazil.

Classified

It is then classified into grades and shipped to Dupré where rock and other impurities are removed.

Granules

The ore granules are then exfoliated using a high temperature furnace before being processed further towards the intended application.
